A Conversation About Pet Loss (Love, Baxter Interview)

I recently had the chance to sit down with Adam, the creator of Love, Baxter, for a really meaningful conversation about pet loss and grief.

If you’re not familiar with Love, Baxter, it’s an incredible, thoughtful and compassionate space created to support pet parents through one of the hardest parts of loving an animal, saying goodbye. What began as one Boston Terrier’s legacy has grown into a place where people can find guidance, connection, and real support during end-of-life and loss.

As a psychologist who specializes in pet loss and grief, these are conversations I care deeply about. So many people feel caught off guard by how intense this loss can be, or feel like others don’t fully understand it. And honestly, many people don’t get it, which can leave you feeling even more alone. The bond we have with our pets runs deep, and the pain that follows deserves to be taken seriously.

In this interview, we talk openly about the emotional weight of losing a beloved pet. If you’re facing an upcoming goodbye or trying to make sense of life after loss, I hope this conversation feels like someone sitting beside you who understands.

If this brings up feelings for you, you’re not alone. This kind of loss can touch so many parts of your life, your routines, your home, your sense of comfort and connection.

If you’re needing more support, I offer therapy focused on pet loss and grief. You can learn more about working with me here, or reach out to schedule a consultation.

And if you’re looking for additional support, I encourage you to explore Love, Baxter. They offer a wide range of thoughtful resources, including guidance around end-of-life decisions, group support, and ways to honor your pet’s memory.
